The One-Task Experiment

The Town Sage Says...

Accepting help can feel easier when it begins as an experiment. You do not have to commit to a whole new routine. Start with one clearly defined task and decide what a useful result would look like.

Choose something ordinary: a grocery pickup, a cupboard reset, or help preparing outgoing mail. Agree on the timing, cost, and boundaries before starting. Afterward, ask yourself whether the help saved effort and whether you felt listened to. Keep what worked, change what did not, and remember that you can say no.

Try this: Finish this sentence: I would like help with this one thing, on these terms.
